These are both short and should only take you 15 minutes to read.
I will add you to my following list, so if you are looking for classmates to follow you should go to my Twitter profile and add in some of your classmates. You don’t necessarily need to follow everyone in the class but add in at least ten to get the Twitter experience. You can also choose to follow people who are not in our class. There are several personalities on Twitter if you would like to follow them. Barack Obama http://twitter.com/BARACKOBAMA or Oprahhttp://twitter.com/oPRAH for example, send me other that you think are interesting.
Two other notes on Twitter. To make you Twitter experience better you should get ahttp://twitter.com/downloads for your computer or perhaps integrate it with your Facebook page - http://www.facebook.com/twitter/ Finally, note that if you want to block people or make your tweets (posts) private Twitter enables this function.
You can utilize twitter to help you Communicate your Findings for your projects!

Other Comments:
The assignment was very easy to complete. I am already accustomed to using Twitter so using the site was clear to me. The articles pointed out how Twitter consumes a lot of our time because of its addictive ways. People can be found using Twitter at inappropriate time, as well as tweeting about inappropriate things. Some tweet pointlessly but in my opinion, that is merely a way for them to get their "tweets up". This a term people use to express that their tweets are below average so they will tweet until they get to a higher one. Others tweet pointlessly to to annoy those who follow them. The thing I like the most about this assignment is how Ms. McArthur is using this common/popular site to connect Social Work students. There wasn't anything that I did not like about this assignment. This is definitely a task that I think students will enjoy and find useful.
ReplyDeleteIf this was not a requirement for the class, I would have never signed up for Twitter. I do not like the concept of following people and requesting others to follow me. Twitter is nothing more than a systematic list of opinions. I would rather read a book. According to the Wired article, twitter allows you to keep tabs on distant friends, relatives, and coworkers; however, I still consider Twitter overrated. Most of the tweets people post do not have any value and are senseless, well at least in my generation. I do not quite understand the addictive nature of twitter. Nonetheless, I am a fairly private person; therefore, I do not want any one keeping tabs on me and I am not interested in keeping tabs on any one. However, I do think it will be beneficial for this course.

ReplyDeleteWell I am already familiar with Twitter because I have an account. The challenge was finding 10 people in my class because there was maybe only one that following were you, Ms. McArthur, at that time. Moreover, the points made in the articles that we were asked to read were valid. Twitter can be a help to keep in touch/connect with peers and teachers as well. However, it can be a hindrance IF you allow it to be. It was smart on your behalf, Ms. McArthur, to connect with us via Twitter because I am sure most of us check it numerous times a day. The task was very easy
ReplyDeleteThis assignment was easy. I already have a Twitter account so using Twitter should be a breeze. This will be a good way to keep in touch with classmates, and keep up with assignments. I agree with the article, because Twitter does help you keep in touch with other people. Twitter can be a distraction if you are not using it for business reasons. I do feel as this was a good way to do things, I would prefer Twitter over Facebook anyway. This task was easy, and i would recommend this to other students and teachers.
ReplyDeleteThis task was very simple. I am accustomed to twitter as well so signing up was a breeze. I do like the concept of twitter because it allows you to voice your opinions, facts, etc simultaneously without annoying your fellow friends/followers. I would have to agree with the article that twitter is a bit of a distraction if you get sidetracked and are not necessarily using twitter for business purposes. Twitter is the new Facebook and lot's of my family, friends, colleagues, etc are turning to twitter because it makes them feel attached and up to date with their local celebrities, president, tv shows, etc.
ReplyDeleteThis task was very easy. I already had a twitter account. But it would be very difficult because Im hardly on their. I really don'd have time to tweet or make any comments about anything. My schedule is already busy enough for me to be sitting around on twitter and facebook trying to see what the next person is saying
ReplyDeleteThe assignment was very easy i am already very familiar with using twitter. It does help to being able to contact others in the class that i do not have their contact information.
ReplyDeleteThis was a fairly easy assignment. I have never used twitter before but I am assuming that it is quite user friendly. After reading the designated articles I was not in the least surprised about the reaction from the users. Like most social sites people will text some rather trivial stuff twitter is no different. I think twitter can be very interesting to use due to the fact that more intellectuals and celebrities tend to be the more frequent users. It can be quite a distraction if one allows just about anyone to be their follower, who will constantly be tweeting about everything that happens in and aroung their surroundings. This is a kool way to keep intouch with peers so am all for using TWITTER.
ReplyDeleteThis assignment was very simple. I really liked how all the Social Work majors have a twitter, because this keeps our networking skills up. The articles helped me to realize how popular Twitter is really beginning to be. Although Twitter is very interesting, I do agree that at time it can get a little annoying at times. Overall, the Twitter account will be helpful to me if I have any questions or need help from my peers.
ReplyDeleteThis assignment was very easy. I am already familiar with the Twitter experience and really enjoy it. Using twitter is an easy way to stay in contact with other classmates whether or not someone may need help on an assignment or not. It can also be used as a social network in which it is most notarized for. I look forward to following friends through this SOWK experience.
ReplyDeleteI'm very familiar with Twitter. I've had an account for about 3 years now. This has been one of the easier assignments. I won't have any trouble at all using Twitter as a resource for this class.
ReplyDeleteI know nothing about twitter because i tried my best to stay far away from this website, but i guess its not going to work. I am new to this but i have heard a lot about this website, so it should be interesting.
ReplyDeleteThis assignment was interesting. I already had a twitter page set up previously, but I use it rarely. I find it hard to tweet about things you are doing when you are busy doing them. I found myself being described in the articles I read. I initially complained that the logic behind this social network was idiotic, only to become slightly attached to it the first couple of weeks. However, my dependence of it faded shortly after. This website can be useful for networking so it is not a bad thing that I am revisiting Twitter.
ReplyDeleteThe assignment was very easy to complete and I find it refreshing that a professor encourages social media as an educational tool. However, I am not a fan of twitter because you can only post small amounts of information, and you have to "follow" and "subscribe" to receive their updates. I find it annoying because unlike facebook, some people only update their statuses every few hours or few days, often times people on twitter update every few minutes or hour.
